There are quite a few sites out there that have google maps with a feature
that allows you click-in the route that you walk and it calculates the
distance. There are quite a few sites and I went through five or six before
I found one that works OK. (None of them are all that great.)

Here's a link to such a website, with a map loaded thats in my neck of the
woods (San Pedro, CA). You can type in the name of your city to get your
home area, etc.

Wow, nice link thanks,

hmm, walking to the station every morning uses 94 calories... better
than nothing :-)

I like that one.

Here's one I use to map bike routes. It shows elevation so I know how
much climbing might be involved on a new ride.

Thanks for the link, Mike! Pretty cool, I've been underestimating my
distance on my morning walk/jog. According to my mapped route, I've been
jogging 2.27mi every morning! I've cut my walk breaks down to one block on
each way. Boy I thought I'd have to train harder to reach my goal for the
LifeWalk this year if I reached it ($1000 raised - jog 1 mile, $2500
raised - jog 2 miles). So far I am about 1/2 way to my first goal of wearing
my 64" pants on the walk - http://lpc.ewalk.org/mvanderplow

First mini goal achieved - 104lbs lost 10/26/04
Second mini goal achieved - 137lbs lost 01/28/05
Third mini goal achieved - 183lbs lost 09/30/05
Fourth mini goal achieved - 204lbs total lost 01/30/06
Fifth mini goal - 231lbs total lost by 05/31/06
